Position description:

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Purchasing Specialist.

As the Purchasing Specialist your overall responsibilities will include placing purchase orders for the timely delivery of goods (chemicals, solvents, equipment,  parts, etc.) and services in support of GL CHEMTEC’s daily operations. The Purchasing Specialist also performs market analysis (supply chains, vendor qualification and monitoring, etc.) and applies this knowledge in order to ensure the quality and fair pricing of materials procured. The Purchasing Specialist will foster relationships with existing vendors and build relationships with new vendors to ensure a timely supply of material to the company. The Purchasing Specialist will be also responsible for coordinating the daily shipping and receiving activities of the company. The Purchasing Specialist will work closely with all levels of the GL CHEMTEC team, from management, to BD, to the R&D chemists directly. Communication skills will be the key to success as you will be responsible for proper data flow and management of expectations and timelines under both ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016.

Primary responsibilities: 

  • Prepare RFQs and seek quotes from current or new suppliers, negotiate prices, incoterms, delivery, lead-times, payment terms, etc.
  • Analyze and calculate material costs, negotiate lowest prices with suppliers and ensure on time delivery. 
  • Monitor common raw materials to minimize the inventory.
  • Support and manage sourcing activities throughout process development and scale-up and projects.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with suppliers and internal stakeholders.  
  • Work closely with project leaders to support their activities and material needs.
  • Identify and lead cost reduction opportunities within assigned commodities by re-negotiating, resourcing, redesigning, or consolidating supplier base.
  • Facilitate or assist in resolving any potential supplier quality issues that may arise.
  • Have the ability to source certain raw materials globally. 
  • Ensure the consistent application of proper sourcing protocols as per the GLC ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 Quality Management Systems.
  • Ensure the proper flow, retentions and distribution of all documents required to properly fulfill orders and render payments to vendors.
  • Work closely with Production Management to review material requirements and ensure daily communication between Purchasing and Production/R&D on all delays or issues regarding Delivery on Time targets.
  • Take full responsibility for shipping and receiving.
  • Complete related job duties and assignments, as required.

Position requirements:

  • B.Sc. from a recognized University and a minimum of two years of  industrial experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, time management skills, and presentation skills.
  • Able to interact efficiently and respectfully with group members internally and externally.
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time
